Coffee, as we all know, contains caffeine. How much do you know about it? How long does it linger in your body when you have an espresso?
How could we even start the day without coffee? What would an office break be without a good espresso? Every day we thank this magic liquid for its energy boosting effects. We know it wakes us up, but do we know exactly how it works? Do we know how long caffeine’s effects last? How much time does our body need in order to process it? See below to know more about this!
One espresso’s caffeine: how long does the effects stays? When you have an espresso, the caffeine in it is fast assimilated by your organism. Once you feel the boost, it’s going to last between 2 and 8 hours depending on a bunch of different factors, but the majority of people will experience the caffeine effects for around 4 hours.
The length of the caffeine effect depends on how fast you are able to get rid of at least a half of the caffeine you got with that espresso. Here’s the main elements influencing your ability to do so:
- your age
- your weight
- your health conditions and which medication you are on if any
- your liver conditions
- pregnancy
- your smoking habits
Fun fact about this last one: a non-smoker will benefit from the effect of caffeine for about twice the time compared to a smoker!
One espresso’s caffeine: how fast you feel its effects?
It just takes a couple of minutes for your body to start feeling the effects of that espresso you had. After about 15 to 45 minutes you will experience the effects at their max. Of course, these ranges will vary again depending on the above mentioned factors.
Once your body has processed the caffeine, its effects will completely vanish. No need to say, the higher your caffeine intake, the more powerful the effects of it on your body.
