It’s summer, it’s hot and you want some coffee…nothing better than a coffee & ice-cream then! The most refreshing wat to have an espresso. Read on to discover the recipe!
You can have it as a dessert, or you can have it as snack. It will be just as refreshing anyway! There are a lot of cold coffee-based desserts, like tiramisu (try it with decaffeinated coffee or cocoa for your children), coffee cheesecake or coffee “semifreddo”, and we are here today to add one more to the list.
Coffee & ice cream is the easiest and the quickest one to prepare, and one of the most delightful too. You can use it to close a dinner party with your friend, as an alternative to the usual espresso: they are going to love it!
What you need:
- Ice cream – 2 scoops (read on to discover what ice cream flavours we suggest!)
- 1 shot of espresso (may we recommend our 100% Arabica blend?)
- Whipped cream
- Cocoa powder
- Chocolate chips
Preparation:
- Prepare your one-shot espresso with your coffee machine or stovetop 1coffee maker
- Put ice cream in a glass (not a small one though!)
- Once the coffee is ready, pour it on the ice cream
- Use the whipped cream, chocolate chips and cocoa powder to top it
Are you uncertain about which ice cream flavour you should use in this recipe? No worries! We have some suggestions for you. The most important thing is that the flavor you pick must enhance and celebrate the taste of Caffè Aiello espresso.
For this reason, we suggest very simple or plain flavours:
- Pure milk ice-cream – what we call “Fior di Latte” in Italy
- Vanilla ice-cream – always the safe choice if you don’t know your guest tastes
- Hazelnut ice-cream – in fact, in Italy, we pair coffee and hazelnuts quite often!
- Coconut ice-cream – it goes well with the topping and it’s even fresher!
- Almond ice-cream – a very refined pairing, for the most demanding ones
But be careful: never use coffee ice cream in this recipe, there won’t be enough contrast.
Now it’s time to try and experiment with all the flavours: what is your favourite pairing for coffee & Ice-cream? Let us know, and don’t forget to check our other coffee-based recipes on our blog! Have you tried already our water-based coffee mousse recipe?
