We have many cold coffee-based desserts recipes to give to you. For example our amazing coffee semifreddo or espresso-cheesecake. But today we are staying on something simple like our great homemade coffee ice-cream!
It’s a dessert, but it can easily become your afternoon snack or your favourite summer treat! It also has the benefit of caffeine, so if you are looking for something energizing, here you are!
There 3 way you can do it, and we are about to let you know about all 3 of them. Read on!
Coffee ice cream: regular homemade (without and ice-cream machine)
Not everyone’s kitchen is equipped enough to include and ice-cream machine. And that’s why we want to give you our recipe where no ice-cream machine is needed.
What you’ll need:
- 1 ½ cups cream
- ¾ cups sugar
- 4 shots of espresso coffee (we suggest our Caffe Aiello Classic Blend)
- 3 eggs
- A few coffee beans for topping
How you make it:
- Prepare your espresso shots and leave it aside for while until cooled down. In a bowl, separate yolks and whites and whisk the whites with 2/3 of the sugar at your disposal. Put the bowl in the freezer for a few minutes. Take it out and keep whisking it with the rest of your sugar. You’ll reach a stiff texture.
- In another bowl stir together the cream and the yolks. Your movement should go from down to the top in order to promote the air incorporation. Pour in the egg whites and the coffee.
- Cover your mixture and leave it in the freezer for 3 hours. During this time go and stir the mixture every 45 minutes.
- When the 3 hours have elapsed, you can enjoy your ice-cream! If you are serving it and you want to make it fancy, top the servings with a couple of coffee beans.
Coffee ice cream with condensed milk
This recipe for homemade ice-cream (no need for an ice-cream machine!) is made with condensed milk and fewer ingredients than the previous recipe.
What you’ll need for the ice cream:
- 2 cups fresh cream
- 2 shots of espresso (we recommend Caffè Aiello Intense for this recipe)
What you’ll need for the condensed milk:
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups of powdered sugar
- 2 oz butter
How you make it:
- You’ll start with the condensed milk by pouring the milk in pot. Add the butter and let everything melt on the stove (low heat)
- Add the powdered sugar, stir everything and let everything cook for 15minutes.
- When it’s ready, pour the mixture in a container to cool. Meanwhile, prepare your espresso shots and when it’s cooled down, pour it slowly in the condensed milk.
- In another bowl vigorously whisk the cream and add it to the condensed milk by stirring slowly.
- Pour everything in a container and let in the fridge for at least 8 hours. No periodical stirring needed, you’ll just need to enjoy it when the freezer time has elapsed!
Coffee ice cream: the no-cream version
If you are not a cream fan, don’t worry, we have the perfect alternative recipe for you!
What you’ll need:
- ¾ cups of sugar
- 3 espresso shots (we recommend our Caffè Aiello Arabica coffee for this recipe)
- 3 egg yolks
- 4 ¼ cups of whole milk
- Chocolate chips for topping
How you make it:
- Prepare the espresso shots. In the meantime, whisk the yolks and the sugar until you reach a soft texture
- Heat up the milk on the stove and add the coffee in it. Don’t let it reach the boiling point. Add the milk and coffee to the eggs mixture and stir slowly.
- If you happen to have an ice-cream machine you can just pour this misture in it and let it do the magic. If not, leave the mixture in the freezer for 4 hours, remembering to stir the mixture every 50 minutes. If you are serving it as a dessert, you can top each serving with chocolate chips!
