Is there a better idea than a coffee popsicle for the summer? We don’t think so! Here’s an easy way to make them at home!
As you can read here, coffee in summer can have some interesting benefits on your body, if you are following a balanced and healthy diet. We think that having an espresso while biting on a popsicle will even enhance those benefits related to coffee and summertime!
How to prepare coffee popsicles
This is the simpler recipe ever. If you already have the moulds and sticks for them you can use them. You can easily find them in supermarkets or online.
If you aren’t equipped already, never mind, you can use materials that should be easy to find in every kitchen: paper cups, coffee spoons or stirrers.
The procedure it the same both ways: you pour the liquid for the popsicle in the cup or mould, put in the freezer, after 1 hour you insert the stick and leave them in the freezer for a few more hours.
How to make the coffee-based liquid for these popsicles? You have many possibilities here, depending on your taste and preferences. The only recommendation we have is not to use more than 1 espresso cup of coffee for each popsicle: that might be too much caffeine otherwise! You can also mix coffee and different syrups if you want to give your popsicle a particular twist!
Coffee popsicles that suit everyone
First you choose the blend:
- If you are trying to have less caffeine or if you have kids that will eat the popsicles, you might choose to use decaffeinated coffee, like ours that is naturally decaffeinated but has all of the coffee’s aroma preserved
- You are looking for an energy booster, you can use our other blends, like the Classic one
- If your prefer a more delicate taste, pick our Arabica blend!
Once your coffee is made, you can sweeten it to your taste.
If you are still unsure about the final taste you want your popsicles to have, here’s a few flavouring suggestions:
- 100% coffee (one espresso shot and water)
- Mix coffee and almond milk to have somehow a “latte” kind of taste
- Mix coffee, milk and mint syrup
- You can add some powdered cocoa to get a tiramisu-like flavore
- Mix coffee with melted white chocolate and dark chocolate chips
- Add some diced fruit in it (remember to add them to the mould after around 40-50 minutes of freezing otherwise they will all fall to the bottom of the mould and freeze there)
- Mix chocolate chips with coffee, they might melt a little bit before freezing at it will be delicious!
- If the coffee kick is not enough for you, consider adding a little bit of your favourite liqueur in it!
The only real suggestion is: be creative and make your own delicious coffee popsicles!
